A little about us!
Hey there!
Here's a short, humble blurb on us friendly folks behind Outdoor Escapade, Angelica Ciochon and Peter Hanus.
Our adventures to the mountains have left us with unforgettable memories of accomplishments, laughter and many good times...not to say we haven't had our share of scarier moments...like coming across a bear on our trail only a few feet away from us...
But we're not here to spook anyone so here's a little insight into who we are!
Our relationship had been an interesting one right off the bat when peter had asked me if he could kidnap me for the day to the mountains and I so willingly agreed, too ecstatic to even realize I knew nothing about this guy. Lucky for me, I couldn't have asked for a better first date and our times have only gotten more exciting since.
Our adventures have been much like our relationship. Always striving to get to the summit of another peak and sometimes encountering challenges along the way. Our times in the outdoors have tested and strengthen our relationship. We've been there for each other, pushing each other to each destination and goal. Peter has always been the one to keep us safe and make sure we always had the appropriate gear, while I had been the one to keep us well fed most of the time.
Peter has always had a love and passion for the outdoors, being born in the beautiful Czech Republic and spending most of his time in the mountains. His passion and experience and higher tolerance of heights than I can stand, has led him to trek on numerous solo adventures. To see the least, I have tried to live vicariously through Peter as he explores higher and more strenuous scrambles and see the gorgeous sights through his amazing photos. Being born in Chicago myself, I can't say I knew too much about hiking or scrambling or much of the outdoors when I first moved to Calgary years ago.
My naiveness towards outdoor adventures became even more apparent after our first trip out mountain biking. What started out as fun by trying to go around the tree roots and rocks soon became a dark realization that the whole point in mountain biking was to actually go OVER the roots and rocks and not avoid them. If Peter was annoyed, it definitely was covered by his laughter as I entertained him with my not so skilled ways on our trails in the beginning.
But over the past few years we have learnt lots from each other and we want to share our trips with others and give others the opportunity to find more information on trips so that others can experience and enjoy what we have been so lucky to experience.
Enjoy reading up on our Escapades!
